Description : This exceptional 2002 original piece beautifully highlights Muffy Tippet’s signature "sketch-style" architectural work. Utilizing precise yet lively ink line work paired with soft, atmospheric watercolor washes, the artist brings to life a classic Eastern Townships Gothic Revival farmhouse.
Capturing both the historic charm and the vibrant seasonal colors of Quebec's heritage country homes, this rare-to-market piece is a quintessential representation of Muffy Tippet’s artistic legacy.
About the artist: Ann (Muffy) Malcolm Tippet was a vibrant and beloved Canadian artist, educator, and foundational cultural figure in Quebec’s Eastern Townships. Universally known by her nickname, "Muffy," she spent her life capturing the natural beauty, lush gardens, and historic architecture of the region on canvas. Painting deeply "from the heart," her work is celebrated for its authenticity, warmth, and intimate connection to the local landscape.
Muffy's lasting impact on her community is permanently honored by the city of Sherbrooke with Ann Malcolm Park in Lennoxville, as well as a prominent posthumous inclusion in the Uplands Cultural and Heritage Centre’s landmark exhibition, Pont des arts – Art Bridge: Our heritage. Because the vast majority of her original landscape and garden paintings are tightly held in private local collections or were sold through community benefits, her works are incredibly rare to find on the public market today.
To learn more about the life and legacy of Muffy Tippet, read the featured article dedicated to her in the Sherbrooke Record, available through the BAnQ digital archives: https://numerique.banq.qc.ca/patrimoine/details/52327/4123702
