Minimum increment: $10.00
Artist: Denis Desson Chiasson
Medium: oil on canvas
Dimensions: 13 × 16 po (33 × 40 cm.) with frame
Description : Through its musical theme, this piece resonates naturally with the spirit of the North Hatley Jazz Festival.
This colorful painting by Denis Chiasson (who signs his work as Desson), presented in an elegant black frame, perfectly captures his unique style. It depicts a reclining blonde woman, painted with bold lines and vivid colors like yellow and green. In her hands rests a strikingly blue guitar, an instrument that recurs often in the artist's work as a symbol of creativity.
The woman in the painting appears pensive and calm, surrounded by a richly detailed, imaginative setting: sheet music, floral patterns, and a small painting-within-the-painting featuring another figure. It's a vibrant piece that brings a touch of poetry and joie de vivre.
About the artist: A professional painter for about twenty years, exhibited in numerous galleries across Canada, Desson is known for his colorful and carefully composed works, in which the figure comes to life within rich and expressive settings. Born in Montreal in 1968, Denis Chiasson is a Quebec painter recognized for his distinctive figurative style. With a background in graphic arts and design, he places great importance on compositional rigor and always begins his works with a series of detailed sketches. Desson's style draws inspiration from post-war modern art, full of emotion and simplicity.
Want a closer look? The artwork will be on display at Pub and resto la Cie Vilandré in North Hatley from August 6th through the 9th during the festival.
The full amount of the winning bid will go to the festival. Thank you to the Galerie Jeannine Blais for its unwavering support of cultural life in our region. Bid for art, bid for music!
