Carl Mayotte
Bassist
Carl Mayotte is one of the most distinctive figures in contemporary jazz fusion in Quebec. A bassist, composer, arranger, and educator, he stands out for his dazzling virtuosity and a sense of groove that has become his signature. Winner of the Félix Award for Jazz Album of the Year at the ADISQ in 2022 and Jazz Radio-Canada Revelation 2020-2021, he holds a Master's degree in Jazz Performance from McGill University. At the helm of the Carl Mayotte Quintet, he delivers bold compositions where modern jazz, progressive rock, funk, and Latin influences converge. His album Carnaval (2023), recognized at the GAMIQ and nominated at the Prix Opus and the ADISQ, confirms his rise on the national and international scene. He just released his fifth album Claude, a heartfelt tribute to the memory of his father.
